Tailings dams are earth-fill dams used to store waste from mining operations which is generated when ore is separated from the gangue. Tailings can be liquid, solid or a fine particle suspension, and are generally highly toxic and potentially radioactive.
Solid tailings are often used as part of the structure itself. Associated with the existing environmental risk of not adequately controlling such by-products, tailings dams must always be lined by geomembranes capable of withstanding extreme base pressures, highly acidic/alkaline conditions, environmental effects and adverse weather conditions.
Liner for Tailings Dams
At ATARFIL we manufacture geomembranes able to face the extreme condition presented in tailings dams using best quality raw materials to resist this severe environment. Our ATARFIL HD Geomembranes installed in most mining applications as it provides three fundamental properties needed in the mining industry. Maximum durability, Long-Term Weather Resistance (UV radiation-Atmospheric aging) and Maximum Low Permeability to Gases.
At ATARFIL we manufacture geomembranes able to face the extreme condition presented in tailings dams using best quality raw materials to resist this severe environment.
