We have evolved from being a geomembrane manufacturer to becoming a provider of safe containment solutions. But we didn’t get here by expanding our product range, we did it by expanding our way of thinking: understanding that a technical solution is only truly effective if it protects people, the environment, and those who install it.

Our History: Local Commitment and Global Impact

Atarfil, a family-owned company with industrial origins in Granada, has grown from its roots in a strategic enclave with more than 25 centuries of history in agriculture, waste and mining in Andalusia. We value cultural diversity and social responsibility, principles that guide our actions in every step of our growth.

Today, with factories in Spain and Dubai, and strategically distributed commercial offices, we offer our solutions around the world. We maintain a strong commitment to our local roots while expanding our impact globally, promoting equality and respect in all our operations.

1995

Founding of Atarfil in Granada, Spain

Atarfil was born with the mission to offer safe and durable containment solutions under the Safe Containment concept, committed to sustainability through efficient and innovative solutions that last over time.

1999

Acquisition of Serrot GMBH

We began our expansion and internationalization with the acquisition of the German company Serrot GMBH, incorporating two new production lines, which significantly strengthened our production capacity and our presence in the global market.

2000

Transformation to a larger and more structured company

Atarfil made the leap from being a small-scale family business, where we all collaborated on multiple tasks, to a larger, more structured and professionalized organization. This change included the creation of specialized departments in key areas and the internal development of an ERP, designed and built by our own team, which optimized all our processes. This transformation allowed us to gain efficiency and laid the foundations for our international expansion, consolidating our presence in the global market.

2002

Expansion and modernization

The construction of the first line completely designed with Atarfil’s own technology was completed. In addition, an expansion of our headquarters and a comprehensive modernization of our facilities were carried out, improving our production capacity. This milestone also included important conventions with international customers, further consolidating our global presence.

2004

ISO 14001 Certification in Granada

We obtained ISO 14001 environmental certification, reaffirming our commitment to sustainability.

2006

Line development

We introduced a new production line for the manufacture of reinforced and polypropylene products, which significantly expanded our capacity for innovation.

2009

GAI-LAP certification in the laboratory in Spain

We obtained the prestigious GAI-LAP certificate, which accredits the quality of our laboratories and processes.

2010 – 2011

Expansion to the Middle East

Opening of our plant in Dubai, UAE, strengthening our presence in international markets.

2015

Obtaining AEO Status (Europe)

Our continuous drive to improve service levels, both to internal and external customers, led us to begin the path towards obtaining Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status for our plant in Spain. This milestone reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and optimization of our processes to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and strengthen our international competitiveness.

2016 – 2018

Expansion into North America

We continued our global expansion with the opening of our U.S. plant, where we launched a new production line.

2018

Expansion to Australia

Expansion of our presence in Oceania with the acquisition of the Australian company Garden City and the opening of new commercial offices in Australia, strengthening our commitment in the region.

2018

GAI-LAP certification at the Dubai laboratory

We strengthened our international reputation by obtaining GAI-LAP certification at our Dubai plant.

2020

Innovation in antioxidants

Thanks to our R&D team, specialized in the development of additives, we create our own antioxidants to focus on the manufacture of specific products for each customer. This allows us to adapt to the most demanding market requirements, offering solutions such as HD EVO.

2021

Incorporation of AI in the production process, industry 4.0.

We incorporate artificial intelligence into our production processes, moving towards Industry 4.0. To maximize the impact of this transformation, we created a company within the group dedicated exclusively to offering these services, optimizing efficiency and precision at every stage of production, and positioning ourselves at the technological forefront of the sector.

2023

ISO 50001 Certification in Spain

We ensure our energy efficiency with ISO 50001 certification, optimizing our processes and contributing to a more sustainable future.

2025

Ongoing projects
