When this occurs, it is necessary to construct a cover above the waste. Sometimes due to financial/operational reasons the construction of the final cover is delayed. In this situation the construction of a temporary landfill cap should be considered.

The benefits of temporarily capping the slopes during the postponement period may include:

Preventing rainwater from becoming leachate (i.e., leachate reduction).

Eliminating routine mowing.

Eliminating maintenance of storm water swales on slope.

Eliminating soil erosion during storm events.

Controlling odors from the temporarily capped area.

The geomembrane to use in the temporary cap will be exposed to many environmental factors: ultraviolet radiation, extreme temperatures, impact load (wind), down-slope creep… For that reasons the geomembrane to use in this type of application need excellent weathering/UV resistant and mechanical properties.

ATARFIL HD geomembranes are manufactured from best in class High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) resins coupled with a specific antioxidant package by the most advanced in-house flat-die technology. This result in a quality and uniform product with excellent weathering/UV resistance and long-term performance. The cost/benefit ratio analysis appoint HDPE geomembranes as one of the best options for a temporary cap.

Quantity

Facility

Material

Year

44,982 m2

Cavenago d’Adda landfill site

Atarfil HD 1.00 mm

2021

["post-2646","case","type-case","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","case_category-waste
["GET
